Peer Feedback Week 4

Updated: Mar 29, 2021

I found this week’s peer feedback session to be much more fruitful than the others as our projects are now in a place where they can have genuine constructive feedback. In this session I also noticed that a lot of student’s projects relate to similar themes as mine, with both students in the session exploring the idea of thoughts manifesting themselves. This was quite interesting as not only could I take inspiration from the other projects, but the feedback that I received and gave was much more informed due to use having similar themes.

Going into this session I was looking for advice on my storyboard as whilst I was very happy with its direction, it wasn’t feasible to complete for the deadline whilst maintaining quality. For this I mentioned that I was going to try and move its direction to more of a cinematic teaser trailer to set the context and tone of my game. In response to this, it was suggested that I looked into storyboards for pre-existing teaser trailers, with Bloodborne’s being an example. I thought that this was a good idea is it could help me to decide the key components of the trailer that will help to communicate the elements of my game without creating a massive workload for myself. Outside of this, when I was explaining the concept of my project, they suggested multiple films and games that I could look into for further research. These being Bloodborne, Inception and Nightmare on Elm Street. Whilst these are good suggestions for research, as the plot and tone of my game have already been cemented, they are not as useful at this stage as they would have been earlier in production. The exception to this being potentially cinematography from Inception to help inform my storyboard’s composition.
